Oh, what a wonderful week we spent here at Cottontail Cottage! We immediately felt at home. The fresh air, the natural sounds and the friendly people. That’s just like the countryside in Germany, where we grew up. On the days the sun was shining we went out for long hikes. We especially liked the Chatooga River. The Sandy Ford Area with Dick’s Creek Falls was our favorite. We didn’t care about the rainy days as long as we knew that we could come back home, take a hot shower, and cook a wonderful dinner. Then we spent the rest of our energy screaming at the Yahtzee game and of course Baby Sophia won the screaming competition! There is still a lot left we have to explore. Hopefully we will have the pleasure to return to Cottontail Cottage and Sophia will be able to m-o-o at her beloved cows! This has been a perfect getaway in the mountains! Rabun County and Cottontail Cottage are absolutely gorgeous! Our favorite moments have been sitting on the front porch rockers taking in the gorgeous view and sitting in front of the fireplace each night. We took a few day trips which were wonderful. I think I took 3 rolls of film in the 4 days we were here. We will have to save the rest for next year when we plan on coming back to Cottontail Cottage! Thank you for your hospitality. Our goal was to have a relaxing, stress-free weekend in the beautiful North Georgia mountains. We certainly met our goal! Cottontail Cottage has everything we could possibly want or need – beautiful setting + view, tastefully decorated cottage providing comfort with a touch of luxury, all essentials plus a personal welcome! Even the cloudy, then rainy weather did not dampen our get-away weekend. We had movies, popcorn, books and quiet time. We came here to relax and that’s what we did! What a cute cottage – a beautiful view and Quiet! My husband took pictures and I painted with watercolors! What a beautiful little cottage you have here. It was such a joy watching my son “take charge” of building the fire everynite. He was so helpful to me during our stay – cooking, cleaning, getting up – GOSH – why can’t he do that at home!!! We played and played on the hills behind the cottage. We explored everywhere & hiked and hiked. We enjoyed some of the beautiful views and waterfalls. Yes, we walked those steps up & back of the Tallulah Gorge. The suspension bridge was scary! We went to all the antique shops in the vicinity and took the short drive to Helen. The last day was the very best and what we came here for. We went whitewater rafting! Minnehaha Falls should not be missed! An easy 15 minute hike to beautiful falls  - a great place for a picnic. The Tallulah Gorge was awesome, the new suspension bridge was a challenge, but worth the time. Great short film in the visitor’s center. On your way there, stop at the overlook for some really great homemade ice cream!! (Yum, yum!) Black Rock Mountain State Park has a terrific view and lots of great hiking trails. Lookout Point is an easy hike with great scenery and perfect for “little ones.” Shopping doesn’t get any better than in Dillard. Nice shops that fit everyone’s budget. Cottontail Cottage is just the place to relax, gather your thoughts and connect with nature. We had a memorable time and plan to make it an annual retreat! Thanks for the terrific hospitality! We believe everything happens for a reason and having our plans cancelled at the Dillard Chalet caused us to find the Cottontail Cottage. What Luck!  We have been to this area many times before but it was especially rewarding to share its beauty with my parents. We could tell that you put a lot of work into your planned day tour of the falls & sights. It was an excellent day and your effort & guidance were well appreciated. Dillard House for Thanksgiving was a fun and unique experience. We can’t decide what part of the trip was our favorite. The cabin, the view, the falls or you two making your guests feel like family. We think a little bit of all of it made for a wonderful mini vacation away from reality. Debbie and Peter, you have really outdone yourselves at Cottontail. Christmas & New Years @ Cottontail Cottage
What a wonderful time we’ve enjoyed here at the cottage. We fell in love immediately with the cottage- its quaint, charming, country decor is what we love! Debbie & Peter, what excellent hosts, very gracious and intent on making our stay comfortable & fun. Hiking was a spiritual & relaxing experience. The James Edmond Trail @ Black Rock, The Glenville Falls hike & the Whitewater Falls. We found the people in these here parts very friendly. We drove through the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina oohing & awing so often, it almost hurt it was so beautiful. We ate the best Southern fried chicken @ Mama’s in Franklin and The Dillard House dining experience is one not to be missed. I could go on ad nauseum, but will just say…….we love it! The January Snowstorm
Our drive to Cottontail Cottage may have been one filled with worry, but our stay here certainly wasn’t. We enjoyed being “showed in” with nothing whatsoever to do! We were able to read, nap, and enjoy the videos, Thanks, Peter! Sarah-Katelyn witnessed her first snow and crawled forward (rather than her usual reverse) in this tranquil “piece of heaven.” It was a welcome change from the usual “rat race.” We finally ventured out to Highlands, we stopped on the way to enjoy breathtaking views and a few icicles.
